Santa Monica Seafood

Santa Monica Seafood is known for their incredibly fresh seafood. They have two restaurants fifty miles apart in Southern California: one in Santa Monica and the other in Costa Mesa, Orange County. On this slow, summery Saturday afternoon I wanted to go on a fun little drive and visited their Santa Monica Seafood restaurant in Costa Mesa. After the drive I was hungry and couldn’t wait to try the seafood.

I started my meal out with a shrimp cocktail appetizer.  Big jumbo-sized shrimp chilled on top of a fresh layer of crushed ice, a splash a lemon, and a slight tangy hot dash of marinara sauce.

The main course was a splendid Italian-American tomato and wine sauce based seafood potpourri known as Cioppino which was served with a slice of bread. Quite an amazing dish!

I wish I had seconds. And thirds. Stop by Santa Monica Seafood in Costa Mesa for this classic Italian-American fresh seafood dish.

After dinner, I took a 5 minute drive to Balboa Island in Newport Beach.
